Vision coverage (such as VSP, EyeMed) is mainly designed to determine prescription for glasses. It is NOT designed to deal with medical conditions, diagnose and/or treatment of these conditions. When a medical diagnosis or condition is present (such as diabetes, hypertension, glaucoma, or macular degeneration, infections, cataracts - to name just a few) it is necessary to file a claim for your examination with your major medical insurance provider. Any co-pays, deductibles, and any other fees for non-covered services that your medical insurance states is the patient's responsiblity will become your balance to pay.
Vision insurance DOES NOT cover medical eye problems, just as medical insurance DOES NOT cover routine vision problemss, eyeglasses or contact lenses.
OUR OFFICE DOES NOT MAKE THESE RULES, THEY ARE DEFINED BY THE INSURANCE CARRIERS.
*Please bring your insurance idenctification cards to your appointment. You will be responsible for paying all co-pays at the time of your appointment. If you have not met your deductible for the year, you will be responsible for paying all charges up to that amount.
We would be happy to file other insurance that you may have, but we do not accept assignment on other plans not listed. You can still come to our office for your vision care, but you will need to file directly with your insurance provider and they will reimburse you for the amounts they allow.
